Executive project
Create a resilient ecosystem within the urban environment.
In this project, the premise was that outdoor spaces could not be accessible, giving the building a distinctive character than other social housings. We designed the exterior zones and the rooftops as a natural ecosystem. We selected plants that evoke a fragment of a partial shade forest rich in deciduous trees, ferns and groundcovers, to create a habitat rich in organic matter and edaphic fauna, giving shelter and food to different animals. We created path just for the maintenance of the garden using pine bark to keep the garden as natural as possible.
Another important element of the garden are three water basins scattered in the ground garden, that retain and infiltrate the most quantity of rainwater of the place, helping at the beginning with the development on the vegetation and the establishment of the fauna. In intense rain seasons will improve water management of the building, being more efficient, retaining it while is raining and then slowly releasing it to the main drains avoiding the collapse of them.
The green roof will improve the thermal comfort of the building. The vegetal palette is full in groundcover plants, herbs with flowers, drought-tolerant herbs, being especially recommended for the development of biodiversity within the urban environment.
